EMC Documentum OEM Edition

The new EMC Documentum Content Server OEM Edition is a developer platform that combines repository, database and indexing services into an installable package, allowing you to add Content Management to your turnkey products. The whitepaper, An Embeddable Platform for Rapid Application Development introduces the new product, and is a great landscape overview for anyone new to Content Management. In the audio interview, Introducing Documentum Content Server OEM Edition, Matt Coblentz discusses the similarities and differences of the OEM and Enterprise Editions of Content Server, and how developers can leverage the platform

Grokking The Paradigm - Getting Started with WDK

Understanding Webtop's design decisions and making small changes to the interface are great ways to get started with the Web Development Kit (WDK). Dennis Dawson presents this series of articles and narrated slide decks to give new developers a gentle, plain English introduction to WDK customizations. We'll add more to the series soon, so check back often.

Wikis in Collaboration - An Introduction

This article provides an overview of Wikis, identifying their role in the Enterprise software landscape as a solution for Collaboration. It examines their current capabilities and discusses their limitations.

Using eRoom XML - Community Memberships

When creating custom applications to work with eRoom, sometimes you can not use SAAPI as those applications must be run on the eRoom Server itself. You may have multiple eRoom Servers or may need to gather information from an application not running on the eRoom Server, such as a portal. In those cases, you should consider using eRoom XML.

DFC Search API Samples

These examples illustrate the DFC Search Service API. They consist of several Java web-applications based on the DFC: from a simple single repository application to a complex AJAX based, multi-repositories (including external sources and eRooms) search application. This presentation was initially developed for EMC Software Developer Conference in November 2006.

DFC Session Management

DFC Session gives access to specific user to a specific repository. This means that a DFC session represents a client’s connection to a repository with specified access credentials. A session object is an instance of IDfSession Interface. Almost every functionality that you access through DFC requires a repository (DMCL) session and DFC session contains repository session. DFC clients get an access to session object by using Session Manager. This paper highlights the nuances of DFC's session management.

Method Server Essentials

Content server provides very powerful server side scripting features through its method server architecture. This paper discusses the basics of the Method Server, the process of writing a method and eventually tracing a server method. New Documentum developers will especially benefit from this paper and there are some tips even for experienced Documentum developers.

A Print View for WDK Properties Component

Webtop displays an object's properties in a dialog box with a scrollbar. This makes is difficult to print the properties because the browser only prints the properties that are currently visible in the window. This article discusses a method of creating a 'Print View' of a repository object's properties in WDK/Webtop.

Documentum System Sizing Tool

Use this interactive Excel spreadsheet to estimate your hardware resource requirements. Just input your site-specific information including the number of users, types of and number of documents, and platform details and the spreadsheet will estimate your memory, disk space and CPU needs. Hardware resource estimates given in the spreadsheet are derived from actual Documentum performance benchmarks and analysis. The spreadsheet is based on the document, Documentum System Sizing Guide. See the guide for details on the methodology used to determine the estimates.

Updated March 2007 - Improved metrics for full text and added a white paper that details the process of using the sizing tool for Full Text.
