Rules Based XML Document Assembly
John Koepp DeepBridge
|
In this session learn how DeepBridge extended the standard XML capabilities of Documentum through a number of different approaches.
The enhancements include XSL Extension Elements and Functions used to provide content retrieval and rule executions services. Operations once difficult to perform in XSL, such as token-based string replacement, are now expressed as custom XSL functions. Extensions are used to simplify the creation of business rules and enforce configuration management requirements they are also used to provide a simple way for business rule developers to create references to Documentum hosted art files and, optionally, download or export that art to a specified location.
Another enhancement is "result set caching'. XSL style sheet execution is notoriously resource intensive, DeepBridge implemented a caching mechanism whereby a rule, when executed with a parameter set identical to a previously executed parameter set and which retrieves content that has not changed since the last execution, returns a "previously compiled" result set in lieu of re-evaluating the entire XSL Style sheet.
Learn more about this and the other enhancements that DeepBridge have implemented.

Using Workflows To Increase Organizational Efficiency With Implementation Of Parametric Decision Making
Rodrigo Figueroa Project Engineer Domain Systems
|
A technologist centered presentation intended to provide advanced and senior staff with a simplified approach and working model for extending the use of their Documentum workflow capabilities. We will share methodology, tips, and samples that can be used in enhancing your current consultative toolbox to provide end-to-end effective solutions. The approach will focus on:
- Opportunity identification
- Problem formalization
- Solution correctness
- Implementation efficiency
- Deployment effectiveness
The goal will be to enable the technical savvy audience to make a significant positive impact to their Documentum user community business process effectiveness. The tools will help focus the efforts of your next, or current, deployment and customization cycle(s) on (a) reducing the time duration in business processes, (b) increasing effectiveness, and (c) reducing errors/rework.
This can be achieved where the decision-making traditionally made by human-user interaction is separated into parametric and non-parametric logical models. The parametric components are formalized and handled through automation. Using Documentum workflow provides the additional benefit of serving as both the model of the solution and the work product deliverable to the client.

Integrating a Custom Application into Webtop
Laurence Hart Infodata Systems
|
Developing a custom Documentum 5 application may seem intimidating
initially, but with proper planning, it can be very rewarding. The benefits
from integrating an application into your Documentum Webtop environment far
outweigh any initial learning curve. Proper planning is key as you need to
design your custom application to insure that all of your hard work is not
lost by the next Webtop upgrade.
This session will demonstrate live the deployment of a custom Webtop
application. This will include the integration into Documentum's Webtop and
merging server side components and settings with those of Webtop. Common
issues such as conflicts with other custom applications and the sharing of
server resources will be examined. After the installation, we will test the
new features live to determine if the integration was successful. The
custom system, called AnnoDoc, will tightly integrate Documentum 5 with
Acrobat 6.
