Symposium Overview
The Partner Symposium is an opportunity for attendees to clue into new technologies and meet technology experts from our partner companies. Last year we heard from partners, like BEA, Adobe, Flatirons, Blue Fish, Burntsand, and more.
These 60-minute sessions offer lessons learned from the field ranging from WDK and .NET-based programming tips to designing code for validation. Partners may mention their products and services, but these sessions focus primarily on technology and are designed to educate.
To submit a topic for consideration, simply e-mail the Developer Conference Team with a brief abstract (50-75 words) and speaker name/title by July 25, 2005.

Decreasing Risk and Increasing Adoption:
Applying Agile/XP Development Methodologies to Documentum Projects
Michael Trafton
Bluefish Development Group
|
 |
| The use of Agile/eXtreme Programming (XP) methodologies is spreading
throughout the software development world. These methodologies can be applied to a wide range of software
projects, and are particularly effective when user interaction is critical, when requirements can change, or
when risks are difficult to mitigate. Industry veteran Michael Trafton will discuss how Agile/XP methodologies
can significantly decrease risk in and increase user adoption of Documentum ECM projects. |
SGML-to-XML Conversions from Legacy Content
Management Systems
Juan Rivero (Consultant)
Flatirons Solutions
|
 |
| Migrating SGML content from a legacy CMS is often a critical part of an
XML-based EMC Documentum implementation. What are the best practices surrounding this type of effort?
How do you prove that the conversion process did not change the content in a significant way? Based on a
recent customer case study, we will discuss the issues involved in an automated roundtrip conversion,
and provide a proven verification approach for large XML implementations. |
Structured Product Labeling (SPL) "dLabeling": A Documentum WDK Customized Solution to Answer Compliance Need
Shantanu Baruah , Documentum Project Lead
HCL Technologies, North America
|
 |
| This session will provide you insight to how Documentum WDK can be used to
answer pharmaceutical industry compliance challenges to Meet SPL regulatory needs. Attend this session to learn
how Webtop based framework solution can provide a simplified interface to meet complex Authoring requirement of
SPL in a component based architecture mode, generate compliance standard XML and provide multi-rendition views
to cater to various user communities need. Join us to see a live demo of the solution. |
Notes on Designing a Framework for a Generic, Asynchronous, Multithreaded DFC-based Processing Server
Ryck Birch
Trinity Technologies
|
 |
| Critical to enterprise applications integration these days is the ability to create asynchronous, multithreaded job servers that are capable of being driven by delegated queries. This discussion will present an overall design framework based on the following technologies: 1) data representation using dynamic Java class generation using Castor and XML schemas, 2) generalized multithreaded task processing based on the implementation of a WorkAction pool service executed by a configurable set of work threads, and 3) dynamically configurable custom behavior for each result item of a query result set. Along the way, we discuss both "old-style" DFC queries and "new-style" ECIS based queries [the DFC search package] as a basis for building query engines. Additionally, we will discuss how to handle very large result sets and their issues of scalability including current limits on the DFC in 5.3.

Using DCTM Connectors to solve Records Management Retention Issues
Bill Prince
Saillant
|
 |
| Most customers are faced with the problem of identifying a starting place when defining a new File Plan. This session focuses on how Saillant is able to help clients define a file plan and retention schedules to help them stay compliant by utilizing a custom built Connector from Information Requirements Clearing House (IRCH/Skupsky) to Documentum Records Manager.

The Enterprise Service Bus – Core to Creating a Liquid Vision for SOA
Dain Hansen
BEA Systems Inc.
|
 |
| The birth of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) has paved the way for supporting technologies to ensure and further guarantee its success. Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) is one such core product that has emerged to help SOA become a reality by curing the integration ill associated with proliferating services. This presentation details the technical and business benefits of using an ESB in SOA. Routing, transformation, security, administration, and lifecycle management of distributed services are some of the key ESB topics discussed. A look at the roadmap for BEA AquaLogic Service Bus™ will also be explored.

Deploying ECM in a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) Environment
Robert Teng, Director, Server Technologies
Oracle
|
 |
| Learn how you can scale your Documentum ECM solution to support thousands of users in a highly available and reliable environment using an SOA approach using Oracle technologies. If you have to reboot twice a day or experience slow performance, see how you can increase your experience on Oracle in this session.
