If you have an open source project centered around EMC technologies and wish to get that listed on EDN, contact the EDN team with your project proposal. If the EDN team finds the project appropriate for the EDN community, we will list the project in the EDN project directory. EDN will also provide a landing page and a discussion forum for your project.
Benefit of Listing on EDN
Your project will get noticed by the large EDN community of EMC customers and partners - the most appropriate audience for your project.
Setting up your infrastructure
An open source project needs a place to live, which is provided by various open source project hosts. Some of these hosts are Sourceforge.net, Google Code, Microsoft CodePlex, Java.net. You can setup your project with these providers or any other provider you know of. Note that EDN does not provide any project hosting facilities for Open Source projects.
A project host like Sourceforge.net typically provides source control systems, bug/feature trackers, download facilities, ... Sourceforge.net is very popular in the open source community and if you plan to use it you can request a project with them once you have registered on Sourceforge.net - https://sourceforge.net/register/
License
Your project needs to be released under a license that governs how the project and its artifacts can be consumed by others. However, this is not a requirement and you may use any Open Source license of your choosing. A list of open source licenses can be found on the Open Source Initiative site - http://opensource.org. Note that if you use any GPL code or plan to release your code under GPL, you might want to research GPL compatibility with other licenses.
