Customize Existing Clients

Documentum provides Web clients for Web-based content management. Using these clients, users can create documents, checkout and checkin documents, view and manage their inboxes, initiate workflow and perform all other standard content management functionality.

Customizing the Existing Clients

Documentum's original Intranet Clients were developed using the Documentum RightSite technology. RightSite is a powerful and well-trusted solution and is the basis for many successful deployments. With the introduction of DFC, WDK and the JDBC driver, however, developers can now take advantage of non-proprietary, standards-based Web development technologies.

Customizing the non-WDK clients does offer a proven method to deploy Web-based content management applications. However we strongly recommend building custom applications with Documentum's newer technology offerings such as DFC, WDK and JDBC.
