The Early Adopter Program for the EMC Centera SDK for XAM (eXtensible Access Method) is intended to provide early access to code under development for the SDK. The SNIA XAM specification is yet to be released, however, EMC XAM development is ongoing in parallel with ratification of the SNIA specification.

While the EMC|SMARTS Domain Managers share a common structural model, ICIM – the InCharge Common Information Model, they also need a general way to transfer objects between servers. The mechanism used to accomplish this is the Data eXchange Adapter (DXA). The DXA is a powerful tool that can be used to refine existing flows of information or define new data to be brought into a custom Domain Manager. This article exposes the reasons for using the DXA as well as the configuration syntax available for more complicated tasks.

We're sometimes asked "Is there is an existing function (in ASL) that can convert an ascii number (in decimal) to its corresponding value, e.g. 33 to !, 49 to 1 ?". There is no such function built into ASL, but we can write our own function to accomplish this.

SPLIT -- Breaking up a string into a list in ASL

Here's a handy little utility for the Smarts Adapter Scripting Language, SPLIT. This function is found in almost every other programming language, but ASL has no SPLIT and so we must write it ourselves. We'll write our SPLIT function to take two arguments, a string to split up, and a character to use to determine the breaks between substrings.
