The XML Services Initiative (internally known as Project xFiles) provides end-to-end support for XML content management from creation, management, assembly, transformation, delivery and exchange. This functionality ihas been added to the Documentum Foundation Class (DFC) level of Documentum 4i. This functionality is included in the 4.2 release of Documentum 4i. Key features of this release include:
- Web-based templating for content creation (available today -- WebPublisher Editor)
- XML authoring tool integration (Arbortext & SoftQuad) DTD and Schema Validation
- Configurable storage of XML documents (chunking)
- Component and Link management support
- Powerful search capabilities across structure (zone searching), content (full-text searching) and metadata
- Dynamic XML document assembly and generation (XDQL capabilities allow you to return query results as XML documents)
- Transformation of XML documents (Integrated XSLT support)
- Many of the DFC operations have been extended to provide capabilities necessary for effectively managing XML content. These operations (XDM layer of DFC) include check-in, check-out, and export. Extra processing has been added to these operations that takes place whenever the content file format is XML. The new DFC operations being added for this release are for transformation and validation.
